SONSHIP 11 ZION, CITY OF GOD

ZION, THE CITY OF GOD
THE MOUNTAIN OF HOLINESS
MY HOLY MOUNTAIN
THE PERFECTION OF BEAUTY

There is a great number of scriptures which mention Zion, and it is very easy to pass over them without receiving the import of what is being said. It is only as we are SEEKING TRUTH that we will be able to see and understand what the Lord is trying to tell us by these seemingly casual mentionings of the term ZION.

The NATURAL ZION was, and is yet, the HIGHER of THE TWO MAIN HILLS in the city of Jerusalem.

David made Zion his city (city of David). He made it the SEAT OF GOVERNMENT for the whole kingdom. It is the highest you can get in the city of Jerusalem.

The LORD made Mt. Moriah the WORSHIP CENTER of the Kingdom when He had Abraham sacrifice Isaac there nearly a millenium before David made Zion the Government center.

These two hills in Jerusalem, Moriah and Zion, have served as TYPES of what WILL BE in, the economy of God, in the last days.

We are given to know, in no uncertain terms, that they are natural symbols of a Spiritual Reality today. The NATURAL has SERVED ITS PURPOSE. It is no longer significant.
Hebrews 12:18 For ye are NOT come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, And the sound of a trumpet, and the voice of words; which [voice] they that heard intreated that the word should not be spoken to them any more: (FOR THEY COULD NOT ENDURE THAT WHICH WAS COMMANDED, And if so much as a beast touch the mountain, it shall be stoned, or thrust through with a dart: And so terrible was the sight, [that] Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:) BUT YE ARE COME UNTO MOUNT SION, AND UNTO THE CITY OF THE LIVING GOD, THE HEAVENLY JERUSALEM, and to an innumerable company of angels, To the GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND CHURCH OF THE FIRSTBORN, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and TO THE SPIRITS OF JUST MEN MADE PERFECT, And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than [that of] Abel.

MORIAH AND ZION REPRESENTED TWO COMPANIES OF LAST-DAY PEOPLE.

MORIAH was used to represent the ENTIRE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY.

ZION WAS USED TO REPRESENT THE OVERCOMERS-- WHO HAVE BEEN DEEMED WORTHY TO BE CHOSEN AS THE BODY OF CHRIST. (We will have more on that later.)

Below are a few scriptures which, I believe, are applicable to the company known as MOUNT SION. BEAR IN MIND THAT THESE ARE PEOPLE (HUMAN BEINGS) WHO HAVE RECEIVED A SPECIAL ANOINTING FOR A SPECIAL PURPOSE. THEY ARE YET MORTALS.

Psalms 48:2 BEAUTIFUL FOR SITUATION, THE JOY OF THE WHOLE EARTH, [IS] MOUNT ZION, [on] the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

Psalms 50:2 Out of Zion, THE PERFECTION OF BEAUTY, God hath shined.

Obadiah 1:17 But UPON MOUNT ZION SHALL BE DELIVERANCE, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

Obadiah 1:21 And SAVIOURS SHALL COME UP ON MOUNT ZION to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD'S.

Revelation 14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty [and] four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads.

Revelation 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. THESE WERE REDEEMED FROM AMONG MEN, [BEING] THE FIRSTFRUITS UNTO GOD AND TO THE LAMB.

Joel 2:1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for [it is] nigh at hand;

Joel 2:15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:

Joel 2:32 And it shall come to pass, [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

Joel 3:16 The LORD also shall ROAR out of Zion, and UTTER HIS VOICE from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD [will be] the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.

Psalms 48:12 Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.

Psalms 102:16 WHEN THE LORD SHALL BUILD UP ZION, HE SHALL APPEAR IN HIS GLORY.

Psalms 14:7 Oh that the salvation of Israel [were come] out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, [and] Israel shall be glad.

Micah 4:11 Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion. BUT THEY KNOW NOT THE THOUGHTS OF THE LORD, NEITHER UNDERSTAND THEY HIS COUNSEL: FOR HE SHALL GATHER THEM AS THE SHEAVES INTO THE FLOOR.
