SINNERS IN ZION

SINNERS IN ZION
Someone once said that it is not the sins of the sinners, but the sins of the saints that burdens the heart of God. Maybe so. It is probably more dangerous to be a sinning saint, for our conscience should be waving red flags and sounding alarms within us.
To continue sinning is to sear the conscience and deafen the Spiritual ears. That leads to disaster.
The Word tells us that a reckoning day is coming for those have a profession without possession.
Isaiah 33:13 Hear, ye [that are] far off, what I have done; and, ye [that are] near, acknowledge my might.
Isaiah 33:14 The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites.
Notice the element of surprise here. The "day" of the Lord comes as a thief in the night. The Holy Ghost caused Isaiah to go on and ask a question.
Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?
Have you ever considered "devouring fire?" And what could "everlasting burnings" mean? Who will have a life style that will withstand that kind of testing?
Isaiah 33:15 He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;
Isaiah 33:16 He shall dwell on high: his place of defence [shall be] the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters [shall be] sure.
Our "talk" doesn't figure here at all. It is all dependent upon our "walk".
There are people who tend to discount scriptures from the Old Testament, saying that we are under the New Covenant now.
Be that such as it may. I am not in any mood to argue today. I have noticed, however, that the New Testament contains the same principles for life as the Old Testament does. The language is different, but the intent is the same.
The fact that Salvation is free, and we depend upon the Blood of Jesus for the well-being of our soul, does not change what God is wanting from us after we have accepted His Blood.
We should HATE SIN in every form, especially after we have received the SPIRIT OF HOLINESS into our lives.
We are told to "set your affections of things above." We "set" them - where we "want" them. Flesh "wants" them on earthly things. The Spirit "wants" them on heavenly things. We determine where they will be "set".
Where are they today? We are each heading one direction or the other. We are pleasing God, or we are not pleasing Him.
