II Peter 1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy MEN OF GOD SPAKE [as they were] MOVED (DRIVEN) BY THE HOLY GHOST.

Isn't it wonderful how precisely God guided the pens and mouths of the Prophets who gave us the writings which make up our Bible. Attempts have been made to prove the Inspiration by various human means-- mathematics, codes, etc.

We do not NEED human skills to prove the veracity of the Word of God. Hebrews 11:3 Through FAITH we UNDERSTAND that the worlds were framed by the word of God--. If we have the Spirit in us, it testifies to the Truth that is contained in the written Word of God.

It is also amazing to see how God has changed both the MESSAGE and the MESSENGER in this, the TIME OF THE END.
Hebrews 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners SPAKE IN TIME PAST UNTO THE FATHERS BY THE PROPHETS, Hath in THESE LAST DAYS SPOKEN UNTO US BY [HIS] SON, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

The Prophets of old had a message-- a good message from God to the Fathers. They were guided (driven) by the Holy Ghost in delivering their message. But they were serving for a limited time only.

Matthew 11:13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied UNTIL John.

Luke 16:16 The law and the prophets [were] UNTIL John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

WE NOW HEAR A DIFFERENT SPOKESMAN. JESUS STEPS TO THE HEAVENLY PODIUM.

Matthew 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; HEAR YE HIM.

JESUS DELIVERS A DIFFERENT MESSAGE TO MANKIND. The MESSAGE is DIFFERENT, because the TESTAMENT is DIFFERENT.

Hebrews 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions [that were] under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

The OLD was GOOD. It was intended to prepare us for the NEW.

Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster [to bring us] unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

THE NEW IS BETTER.

John 1:17 For the LAW was given by Moses, [but] GRACE AND TRUTH came by JESUS CHRIST.

GRACE has been defined as being that part of God which enables us to approach that which is unapproachable-- THE ESSENCE OF GOD.

GRACE is the MEDIATOR between God and man. JESUS is the MEDIATOR between God and man. JESUS is the GRACE OF GOD.

The worshipers of Old Testament times worshiped in types and symbols. The brazen altar was symbolic of the sacrifice of Jesus. The golden candlestick was a symbol of the Word of God shedding light on our path. The altar of incense was symbolic of prayer and intercession. The list goes on.

Jesus IS THE TRUTH (REALITY) OF GOD. The TRUTH (reality) of what those symbols pointed to is found in Jesus Christ.

When Jesus told the woman at the well that people would worship God in SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH, He was telling her that they would no longer need symbols and priests and ceremonies, but would be able to contact the Lord directly by means of the Spirit, and in reality (truth) as it is in Jesus Christ.
