SHAKING NATIONS
The Bible tells us what God is planning to do with the nations of the earth in the (near?) future. There is a limit to what He will tolerate of the insolence of the Man he created. Though He has had long patience, and has stretched out hands of Mercy for many generations, it will come to an end one day.
We read in Haggai 2:7 And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts. Also, in Isaiah 13:13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.
I will not presume to try to tell you just WHAT God is planning to do, nor HOW He will go about doing it. But rest assured, He has the "wherewith" to get the job done when He starts it.
Some scholars tend to believe that we will find this "shaking" in history, and I will admit that we can probably find some of it there.
However, we read in Hebrews 12:26-- Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this [word], Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
Notice the word "removing". It means total destruction.
Everything that Man has built is going down. Every form of government not based on God's Principles will crash. All businesses will crumble. Money will become worthless. I could carry the thought further, but you can get an idea of how much God will "remove".
It scares many people to have us mention things of this sort, for some of these things represent their security.
Try to imagine what it would be like to not have some of the "assurances" which our government and our monetary system afford us today. We had better give it some thought, for their "removal" is a "sure thing."
The "Great City" of the world will be thrown down, and will be replaced by the "City of God."
Joel 3:14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD [is] near in the valley of decision. The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD [will be] the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.
Hebrews 12:28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: For our God [is] a consuming fire.
