ISAIAH 52

ISAIAH 52

I believe the last few chapters of Isaiah’s writings are pre-written history. I do not make any claims to having all the answers, because I do not have access to all the facts of history. Neither am I smart enough to know the significance of the historical facts if I did know them. Furthermore, I realize that if I SAY that the LORD SHOWED ME the things I am about to relate, there can be NO POSSIBILITY OF ERROR. I WILL NOT MAKE SUCH A CLAIM, for I know too well that I am fully as capable of being mistaken as anyone else is.

With that disclaimer, I submit to you what I THINK the Lord has shown me.

1. THE VOICE CRYING IN THE WILDERNESS.
2. BEAUTIFUL FEET ON THE MOUNTAIN.
3. THE HOLY ARM MADE BARE.
4. THE MIGHTY (FUTURE) DELIVERANCE.
5. THE “NEW LAND” OF ISRAEL.

This chapter is a foretelling of the ARM OF THE LORD coming on the scene, and the blessings that will follow.

It looks like it might be the ministry of John the Baptist, the Voice of One Crying in The Wilderness.

Israel, and Judah, had not heard the Voice of God in 400 years, but it was now time for The Messiah to make His appearance. John was the one chosen to waken the people of Judea from the slumber they had drifted into.

· Joh 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
· Joh 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
· Joh 1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
· Joh 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

· Luk 3:1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being governor of Judea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,
· Luk 3:2 Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word (RHEMA) of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.
· Luk 3:3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;

Isa 52:1 Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O ZION; put on thy beautiful garments, O JERUSALEM, THE HOLY CITY: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.

The time of the end of the Law of Moses, and the ushering in of the HOLY CITY, the NEW JERUSALEM had come. It would be about four years before it would actually arrive, but it is now high time for the Covenant people to waken out of their slumber and get ready for a mighty Move of God in their midst.

We must bear in mind that the New Jerusalem, and Mt. Zion, are terms used in Scripture for the Church, and the Overcomers. It is PEOPLE, and not PLACES.

· Rev 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
· Rev 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, (It is a City of the Spirit, rather than a collection of elements—gold, etc.) coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

· Rom 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
· 1Co 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.
· Eph 5:14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

Isa 52:2 Shake thyself from the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion.

· Isa 29:4 And thou shalt be brought down, and shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.

It is time for the long awaited Messiah, the Salvation of the Lord, to come to the children of Israel. Shake off the dust of captive servitude and prepare to receive the King of Glory.
Isa 52:3 For thus saith the LORD, Ye have sold yourselves for naught; (gratification of the flesh) and ye shall be redeemed without money.

· Isa 55:1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
· Isa 56:1 Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
· Rev 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Isa 52:4 For thus saith the Lord GOD, My people went down formerly into Egypt to sojourn there; and the Assyrian oppressed them without cause.

Isa 52:5 Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away for naught? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day is blasphemed.

ISA 52:6 THEREFORE MY PEOPLE SHALL KNOW MY NAME: THEREFORE THEY SHALL KNOW IN THAT DAY THAT I AM HE THAT DOTH SPEAK: BEHOLD, IT IS I.

ISA 52:7 HOW BEAUTIFUL UPON THE MOUNTAINS ARE THE FEET OF HIM THAT BRINGETH GOOD TIDINGS, THAT PUBLISHETH PEACE; THAT BRINGETH GOOD TIDINGS OF GOOD, THAT PUBLISHETH SALVATION; THAT SAITH UNTO ZION, THY GOD REIGNETH!

Isa 52:8 Thy WATCHMEN shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for THEY SHALL SEE EYE TO EYE, when the LORD shall bring again Zion.

Isa 52:9 Break forth into joy, sing together, ye waste places of Jerusalem: for the LORD hath comforted his people, he hath redeemed Jerusalem.

ISA 52:10 THE LORD HATH MADE BARE HIS HOLY ARM (JESUS) IN THE EYES OF ALL THE NATIONS; AND ALL THE ENDS OF THE EARTH SHALL SEE THE SALVATION OF OUR GOD.

We have thought, and taught, for many years that these scriptures are describing events which are YET FUTURE. WE HAVE PROBABLY BEEN MISTAKEN.

The BIRTH of Jesus, the MINISTRY of Jesus, the CRUCIFIXION AND RESURRECTION of Jesus marked the BEGINNING of a period which is now about 2000 years old. It has been given many names, such as the Church Age, the Age of Grace, etc., but it is REALLY the time of BUILDING THE HOLY CITY—THE KINGDOM OF GOD ON EARTH.

We must always bear in mind that Jesus is “that Prophet” which was promised by Moses, and He was sent primarily to the children of Israel.

· Deu 18:15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
· Act 3:22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
· Act 7:37 This is that Moses, which said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear.

Israel WILL hear Jesus. The Gentiles WILL hear Jesus. The whole world WILL hear Jesus.

· Heb 1:1 God who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
· Heb 1:2 Hath in these last days SPOKEN UNTO US BY HIS SON, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
That is not to intimate that ALL of humanity will be saved, for that is not in the agenda at all. Jesus, however, CAN NOT BE IGNORED, for the God of the Universe has spoken to us BY HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST.

God WILL, nevertheless, honor the COVENANT OF PROMISE He gave to Abraham on the plains of Mamre nearly 4000 years ago.

Right here is the place for me to assure you that there exists today an Israel apart from the Jews. Many of them have already “heard” that Prophet (Jesus), and are helping to spread the Good News around the world.

Next comes a message to these who are heralding the Gospel to the world. It is the same message that was given to the Levitical Priests under the Law of Moses.

Isa 52:11 Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD. (The Priests of the Lord—the Zion of God—the OVERCOMERS)

It is interpreted by Paul in his letter to the Church at Corinth:

· 2Co 6:17 Wherefore COME OUT FROM AMONG THEM, AND BE YE SEPARATE, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.

Isa 52:12 For ye SHALL NOT GO OUT WITH HASTE, nor go by flight: for the LORD will go before you; and the God of Israel will be your rearward.

I believe this is a definite contradistinction to Israel being THRUST out of Egypt. In that case, they were being delivered from persecution and hard bondage.

In the case of Isaiah’s prophecy, that portion of the Church which is described as being the “Overcomers” will come to the forefront of all activity, and will prepare the way for the rest of the Church to inherit what God has prepared for them.

· Exo 12:11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD's passover.

Isa 52:13 Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.

So great will be the Spiritual phenomenon of the ministration of the Overcomers that it will completely eclipse the Deliverance from Egypt.

· Jer 23:7 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that THEY SHALL NO MORE SAY, The LORD liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;
· Jer 23:8 But, The LORD liveth, WHICH BROUGHT UP AND WHICH LED THE SEED OF THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL OUT OF THE NORTH COUNTRY, AND FROM ALL COUNTRIES WHITHER I HAD DRIVEN THEM; AND THEY SHALL DWELL IN THEIR OWN LAND.

The term “Their own land” is, undoubtedly, referring to the SPIRITUAL land of “THE FAITH OF ABRAHAM”, rather than a literal piece of geography somewhere. After all, the Lord promised THE WORLD to Abraham.

· Isa 11:11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord SHALL SET HIS HAND AGAIN THE SECOND TIME to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea.
· Isa 11:12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah FROM THE FOUR CORNERS OF THE EARTH.

· Rom 4:13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

Isa 52:14 As many were astonished at thee; his visage was so marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:

Jesus paid a terrible price for the redemption of mankind. His sacrifice was acceptable, and now we can reap the benefits that He provided for us. The consummation will be glorious.!

Isa 52:15 So shall he sprinkle (make Atonement for) many nations; the kings (Priests, scribes, and Pharisees) shall shut their mouths at him: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.

The religious leaders had interpreted the Word of God by the ruler of human understanding instead of Spiritual interpretation. Therefore, they were expecting their Messiah to arrive in pomp and splendor, a Conqueror who would set them free from Roman bondage. Instead, they saw a meek and lowly person, one whom they would not consider a candidate to be their Delivering King.

Most of our modern day interpretations of Scripture are every bit as faulty as were those of that day.
