TWO CITIES

TWO CITIES
In Scripture there are two cities which were used as types of
something else which was to appear in the latter times.
One city was Babylon, the beautiful, strong city which came to
temporary power about 600 years before Jesus. It came to its end when
its message was given. The World System, which it was a type of, was
passed down, in a series of steps, through Medo-Persia, Greece and
Rome, finally ending in the ten-part extension of itself, which is with
us yet today. It is the "Gold System" and is revealed in all forms of
commerce and politics, both secular and religious. The "System" is a
thing of beauty, and a thing of power. "Principal and Interest" are
two of the more readily recognizable apects of it in modern times.
The other city was Jerusalem, which came to the acme of its proph-
etic existance during the "reign of peace" of Solomon, who, being a man
of peace, was permitted to build the Temple. The City and the Temple
were both types of the Church and the Body of Christ.
The city was destroyed. The Temple was destroyed. But what they
represented lives on to this present hour, and shall never come to an
end. It is the "Stone hewn out of the Mountain" that is destined to
strike "Babylon" in the "feet" and utterly destroy it, just as the
ancient city was destroyed, never to rise again.
Friends, the CHURCH will TRIUMPH over its Babylonish enemy.
We are told to "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem (the Church)." Psalms 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper
that love thee. (The city that lieth foursquare)
I Timothy 2:1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all,
supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks, be made
for all men; For kings, and [for] all that are in authority; that WE
MAY LEAD A QUIET AND PEACEABLE LIFE IN ALL GODLINESS AND HONESTY.
