JEHOVAH-- SAVIOUR

JEHOVAH--SAVIOUR

The last few times we have been looking at the revelatory Names by which God has made Himself known to mankind. Today we are looking at the One which is loved by all who know Him.

The Hebrew term is JEHOSHUA, a combination term which means "JEHOVAH, THE SAVIOUR."

The Greek form of the term is JESUS, whom we call CHRIST.

Jesus was named by the Announcing Angel at the time of conception.

Mat 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Luk 1:30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God.
Luk 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.
Luk 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the SON OF THE HIGHEST: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:
Luk 1:33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Jesus is also referred to as the LAMB OF GOD.

Joh 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

The PUPOSE of Jesus being born was to TAKE AWAY THE SIN OF THE WORLD, and to DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL.

1Jo 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

We must take note that the Babe in the arms of Mary was NOT GOD. He was NOT IMMORTAL AS A CHILD. Isaiah 9:6 gives us somewhat of a chronological resume of how He became what He is today.

Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Heb 10:5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: (IN THE WOMB OF MARY)

The Prophet Isaiah called Him the ARM OF THE LORD.

Isa 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?

Isa 52:10 The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

Isa 63:5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.

There is another scripture that tells us about the route Jesus took to arrive at the position He occupies today.

Phi 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, 1) thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 2:7 But 2)made himself of no reputation, 3)and took upon him the form of a servant, and 4)was made in the likeness of men: 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, 5)he humbled himself, and 6)became obedient unto death, even 7)the death of the cross. 2:9 WHEREFORE GOD ALSO HATH 1)HIGHLY EXALTED HIM, AND 2)GIVEN HIM A NAME WHICH IS ABOVE EVERY NAME: i 2:10 THAT 3)AT THE NAME OF JESUS EVERY KNEE SHOULD BOW, OF THINGS 4)IN HEAVEN, AND THINGS 5)IN EARTH, AND THINGS 6)UNDER THE EARTH; 2:11 AND THAT 7)EVERY TONGUE SHOULD CONFESS THAT JESUS CHRIST IS LORD, TO THE GLORY OF GOD THE FATHER.

Peter, on the Day of Pentecost, related what God had done in response to the Sacrifice of Jesus.

Act 2:36 THEREFORE LET ALL THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL KNOW ASSUREDLY, THAT GOD HATH MADE THAT SAME JESUS, WHOM YE HAVE CRUCIFIED, BOTH LORD AND CHRIST.

There was also a change took place when Jesus was baptized in Jordan by John.

Mat 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

JESUS THEN HAD ACCESS TO ALL THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE WHOLE CREATION, AFTER THE "HEAVENS WERE OPENED TO HIM." THIS WAS WHEN HE WAS "ANOINTED", AND RECEIVED THE SPIRIT WITHOUT MEASURE.

Joh 3:34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.

FROM THAT MOMENT, JESUS WALKED IN BOTH REALMS-- THE HEAVENLY AND THE EARTHLY. FROM THAT MOMENT, JESUS OFTEN SPOKE BY THE SPIRIT AS WELL AS SPEAKING AS A MAN.

Again, Peter, at the house of Cornelius, related what had happened in the life of Jesus.

Act 10:37 That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached; 10:38 How GOD ANOINTED JESUS OF NAZARETH with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Peter, at the Gate Beautiful, tells us more of the Journey to Glory.

Act 3:13 The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go. 3:16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

The GLORIFICATION of Jesus took place when He became the FIRSTBEGOTTEN FROM THE DEAD.

Rom 1:4 AND DECLARED TO BE THE SON OF GOD WITH POWER, according to the spirit of holiness, BY THE RESURRECTION FROM THE DEAD:

Act 13:33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

Heb 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

Psa 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Rev 1:5 And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Heb 1:3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 1:4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

Heb 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God; 10:13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.

According to the Inspired Word, a time will come when the Ministry of Jesus (Jehoshua, JEHOVAH-SAVIOUR) will have been completed, AND He will be known as: Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the FIRSTBORN AMONG MANY BRETHREN.

1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 15:27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that GOD MAY BE ALL IN ALL.
