THE HIDING PLACE

THE HIDING PLACE

After the explosion of the Atomic Bombs on Japan in 1945, and people realized what a terrible thing had been created, fear began to grip the hearts of people. We were advised to create bomb shelters on our property, stocked with supplies for several days. Many people did the best they could, but most of them would have been woefully inadequate had they been needed.

Many folks are feeling a need today for a place of shelter and safety from what they see coming upon the earth today.

In 1948, Wing Anderson wrote a book entitled "Seven years that change the world," in which quite detailed advice was given for a means of survival-- even to what was deemed to be the safest place on earth-- Ogden, Utah. Needless to say, there was a rush to buy land around Ogden following the publishing of the book. Every one is interested in safety and survival.

But the Bible also gives some very specific guidelines for preparation to survive events which may come.

Oddly, most of the admonitions deal with our Spiritual conditions, rather than physical fortifications. The implication seems to be that if God does not preserve us, there is little hope that our own feeble efforts can do us any good.

The Prophet Isaiah said: Isaiah 26:20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.

That admonition was given in the face of moral and Spiritual declension in the nation of Israel.

The Psalmist displayed a high degree of confidence in the ability of the God he loved to keep him from the dangers of men and of spirits. Such confidence sprang out of a close walk with the Lord. Confidence will arise in our hearts also as we make Him the King of our life.

Psalms 32:7 Thou [art] my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

Psalms 119:114 Thou [art] my hiding place and my shield: I hope in thy word.

Psalms 27:5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

Psalms 31:20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

Psalms 17:8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

Psalms 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
